At ROCTEL, we believe that building strong, future-ready infrastructure goes beyond technology — it extends to how we contribute to the world around us.
This year on 7th March, our team and the wider ROCTEL community came together at St. Patrick’s College campus, Maynooth University for our annual tree planting day — a tradition we’re proud to continue.
🌿 A Day at Maynooth
Tree planting is not always glamorous, with muddy conditions and unpredictable Irish weather, but this year, we were incredibly lucky and rewarded with a beautiful, sunny day.
For this initiative, we collaborated with Trees on the Land, who organised the planting, and Techies Go Green, who joined us with volunteers on the day.
Together, we planted 1,500 native Irish trees, contributing to the development of a new woodland area on campus.
It was a welcome change of pace, stepping away from the day-to-day, working together outdoors, and focusing on something tangible and rewarding. Equipped with boots, gloves, and plenty of enthusiasm, the team embraced the experience and made a meaningful contribution.

The trees we planted are native Irish species, carefully selected to support biodiversity and create a resilient natural environment.

Over the past five years, ROCTEL has planted over 11,500 trees across Ireland.
What began as a simple initiative has grown into a meaningful tradition, one that allows us to contribute in a practical way while bringing the team together outside of the usual working environment.
